Ignacy Zalewski

born in 1990,  composer-in-residence of Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra in Warsaw for concert season 2013/2014.

Winner of 51st T. Baird Composers' Competition (2010), laureate of 3rd Prize and Special Award on International Krzysztof Penderecki ARBORETUM Composer's Competition (2012), Award of Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage  for ''outstanding artistic achievements'' (2012), scholarship holder of southkorean DongSang Research Foundation (2012) and Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education (2012). He is also prize-winner of 9 other composers' competitions, all-polish and international in years 2007-2009.

He studies composition with professor Marcin Blazewicz at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland. In 2011 he took part in masterclasses led by prof. Wolfgang Rihm in Rostock, Germany.

His pieces were performed in Poland (National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw,  The Witold Lutoslawski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw, Great Hall of Warsaw Royal Castle), Ukraine (Lviv Philharmonic), Japan (ALTI Concert Hall in Kyoto), Germany (Konzerthaus in Hinterzarten, Hochschule fur Musik und Theater in Rostock) and Russia (Center of Modern Art in Nizhnyi Novgorod).

Ignacy Zalewski, since May 2012 is a member of ZAiKS. He is also a member of the board of #Art (Hashtag Art) Association involved in promoting Polish music.
